Over 40 countries have confirmed their participation in the OSCE summit to be held in Astana on Dec. 1-2, the Director of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry's OSCE Department Serzhan Abdykarimov told today at a press conference in Astana.
"More than 40 countries have confirmed their participation. But the confirmation of participation continues, the final number will be known later," said Abdykarimov.

The decision to conduct this year's summit of the organization was made by the OSCE Foreign Ministers on August 3 on the basis of agreements reached at the informal ministerial meeting in mid-July in Almaty. The Astana summit will be the seventh in the history of the Organization. Previous summits were held in 1975 in Helsinki, in 1990 in Paris, in 1992 in Helsinki, in 1994 in Budapest, in 1996 in Lisbon and in 1999 in Istanbul.
