Alassane Ouattara has been inaugurated as Cote d'Ivoire's president at a ceremony Saturday in the country's political capital Yamoussoukro, Xinhua reported.
More than 60 foreign delegations and 21 heads of state, including United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and French President Nicolas Sarkozy, are attending the ceremony.
Ouattara was internationally recognized as winner of last November's presidential election, defeating former president Laurent Gbagbo, who refused to cede power and was arrested in April by Ouattara's forces.
The violent post-election power struggle between Ouattara and Gbagbo had lasted for almost five months, resulting in heavy casualties in the country.
