Three people were killed when a cargo train partially derailed and crashed into a train station building in western Poland, officials said Wednesday, dpa reported.

The accident occurred Tuesday night after three cargo train wagons derailed and collided into a train station in Lubuskie province.

The fatalities included a 75-year-old woman and 55-year-old man, who were inside the building, and an 18-year-old girl who was waiting at the platform.

Broadcaster TVN 24 quoted police as stating that the accident was likely caused by human error, either by the brakes not being applied in time or by improper attachment of the train wagons.
