US position on events of 1915 remains unchanged - Department of State
Baku, Azerbaijan, April 23
The US position on the events of 1915 has not been changed, acting spokesperson for the US Department of State Marie Harf said, Anadolu agency reported.
Harf said that some people expected the US to make a statement regarding the events of 1915, which will satisfy the Armenians.
"We understand them, but we believe that the US opinion is correct," Harf said.
Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that Turkey's predecessor, the Ottoman Empire allegedly carried out "genocide" against the Armenians living in Anatolia in 1915. Turkey in turn has always denied "the genocide" took place. While strengthening the efforts to promote the "genocide" in the world, Armenians have achieved its recognition by the parliaments of some countries.
