Demand for Turkish clothes in int'l markets falls, trade ministry says

The export of ready-made clothes from Turkey to foreign markets declined by 8.7 percent from January through September 2020, compared to the same period of 2019, amounting to $12.3 billion, the Turkish Trade Ministry told Trend.

According to the ministry, Turkey’s export of clothes made up 11.1 percent of the country's total exports for the mentioned period.

In September 2020, Turkey exported ready-made clothes worth over $1.79 billion to international markets, which is 19.9 percent more compared to the same month of 2019, the ministry said.

Turkey’s clothing exports for September 2020 accounted for 12 percent of the country's total exports.

Over the past 12 months (from September 2019 through September 2020), Turkey exported ready-made clothes worth over $16.5 billion abroad.
