Georgian National Energy Commission Chairman Guram Chalagashvili has made his first comment on the possible sale of KazTransGas - Tbilisi.
Chalagashvili told Kommersant radio that the sale of the company, claimed by businessman Mindia Gulua and one of the subsidiaries of Gazprom will be possible only if KazTransGas - Tbilisi covers the entire debt to the state. A manager has been working in the company for several years. His purpose is to pay off the debt of 80 million lari.
Taken into account the confidential information, Chalagashvili did not say how much of the debt has already been paid. He stressed that the term has been extended twice.
Earlier it was reported that "For Renewed Georgia" party leader Mindia Gulua acquired a significant share in "KazTransGas-Tbilisi" company, "PirWeli" agency reported citing an unnamed source. The source did not specify the amount of shares purchased by the Russian businessman.
"KazTransGas" company has operated in the Georgian market since May 12, 2006. Then it won the auction of the Georgian government and bought the bankrupt "Tbilgaz" for $ 12.5 million.
