Azerbaijani thermal power plants increase production of electricity

Some 4.03 billion kilowatt / hours of electricity (commodity) were generated in Azerbaijan in January-February which is 4.3 percent more than in the same period of 2013, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said on March 18.

Some 3.88 billion kilowatt / hours of the total volume of electricity (commodity) generated in January-February 2014 fell to the share of thermal power plants (TPP) which is 4.8 percent more than in January - February, 2013.

Azerbaijani hydroelectric power plants (HPP) generated 141 million kilowatt / hours of electricity (commodity) in January -February which is 9.1 percent less than in the same period of 2013.

Some 20.63 billion kilowatt / hours of electricity (commodity) were generated in Azerbaijan in 2013 which is 0.6 percent more than in 2012.

Out of the total volume of electricity generated in 2013, 19.26 billion kilowatt / hours fell to the thermal power which is 2.7 percent more than in the same period of 2012.
HPP generated 1.37 billion kilowatt / hours of electricity in 2013, or 21.7 percent less than in 2012.

Azerenergy is the main electricity producer in Azerbaijan. The company has over 200 substations with a capacity of 500, 330, 220 and 110 kV / amp, as well as eight hydroelectric plants and 13 thermal power plants.
