Kazakhstan hosting meeting of CIS Heads of State Council

A narrow format meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council kicked off in the township of Burabai in Kazakhstan's Akmola region, BelTA reported Oct. 16.

Currently, only the CIS heads are taking part in the summit. Afterwards the meeting will continue in an extended format. The agenda of the CIS summit includes 17 issues.

In particular, CIS countries' heads are planned to make statements regarding the 70th anniversary of the UN's establishment, the 30th anniversary of the disaster at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, and about the fight against international terrorism.

A number of topics will cover the further strengthening of the military and border cooperation.
