News reports about Bushehr nuclear power plant being under threat of explosure is simple baseless propaganda, Iranian Foreign Ministry's spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said at the press conference in Tehran, Press TV reported live.
Commenting on reports that Iran removed fuel from the plant due to debris being left behind during plant's construction, Mehmanparast said there is nothing to worry about.
"The Bushehr plant has been designed according to highest security levels, as we take safety very seriously," Mehmanparast said.
Earlier several Iranian newspapers quoted the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, Fereidoon Abbasi that bolts and welding material left inside the Russian-built Bushehr reactor had led to abnormal readings during operation.
Later Abbasi dismissed reports about temporary transfer of fuel from Bushehr nuclear power plant's reactor to a weakened fuel reservoir and discontinuation of the reactor's activities.
Iran signed a deal with Russia in 1995, according to which the plant was originally scheduled for completion in 1999.
In September 2011, the Bushehr nuclear power plant officially began its operations, generating electricity at 40 percent of its capacity.
The 1000-megawatt plant, which is operating under the full supervision of the IAEA, reached its maximum power generation capacity for the first time on August 30, 2012.
Iran and Russia have assured the international community that the plant is fully compliant with high-level safety standards and IAEA safeguards.
