Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan discuss economic and humanitarian cooperation

Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan discussed a wide range of bilateral issues during the foreign ministries' consultations, held in Ashgabat, the embassy of Turkmenistan in Azerbaijan said on Thursday.

A Kazakh delegation headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Amangeldy Zhumabayev arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in these talks.

As noted at the meeting, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan are building their relations on a solid foundation of friendship and brotherhood, which now have gained a qualitatively new form and content.

During the negotiations the sides discussed issues of mutually beneficial partnership in trade and economic field, energy, agriculture, transport and communications sector, as well as issues of humanitarian cooperation. In this context the sides stressed the important role of the joint Turkmen-Kazakh intergovernmental commission.

Kazakh guests praised the peaceful foreign policy of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, based on the principles of positive neutrality, which has become an important factor of stability in Central Asia, the statement said.

It was stressed that constructive international initiatives of Turkmenistan to ensure peace in the world, and create favorable conditions for global sustainable development put forward by the Turkmen leader, found a very strong support in the Central Asian region and the world at large, the statement noted.

During the talks the parties noted mutual interest to further develop political dialogue, including in the form of regular consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. Special attention was focused on the aspects of the expansion of cooperation in the framework of international organizations.
