Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast and Radio Pakistan Director-General Murtaza Solangi explored avenues for the further development of media cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad, FNA reported.
During the meeting held in Pakistan on Monday, Mehmanparast said Iranian and Pakistani nations share abundant commonalities in the fields of culture, history and civilization, and called on the two sides to utilize their potentials and capabilities to increase their bilateral media and radio cooperation
He noted the recent uprisings in a number of Muslim countries in the region, and said Islamic nations have grown more powerful and events taking place in the Middle-East and North Africa at the current juncture must be managed.
Solangi, for his part, praised Iran's rich experience in area of the media and radio programs, and urged expansion of Tehran-Islamabad interactions and cooperation in the sphere.
Late in June, Iranian and Pakistani officials signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to start media cooperation.
The agreement was inked by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) Vice President Mohammad Hossein Sufi and Solangi in Islamabad.
Under the MoU, the two organizations will arrange short-term training courses to improve the professional skills of their staffers. They will also exchange production teams with the aim of producing programs of cultural and historical backgrounds of the two countries.
The two organizations will broadcast programs from their radio channels on their national days.
The two sides will also take part in festivals, conferences and other radio forums in their countries besides cooperating in technical areas.
