Gaddafi's Ukrainian nurse returns home

A personal nurse to Libyan President Moamer Gaddafi has returned home to Ukraine and is in hiding from local media, her daughter told a national newspaper on Monday, dpa reported.

Galyna Kolotnytska flew home by Ukrainian air force cargo jet on Saturday from the Libyan capital Tripoli. She is in good health, but "she wants nothing more than peace and quiet," her daughter Tatiana Kolotnyska told the Segodnya daily.

Neighbours in Kiev's residential Brovary district shoved and punched a group of some two dozen reporters who attempted on Sunday to knock at the door of the nurse's apartment, according to news reports.

According to documents on the WikiLeaks website, the US ambassador to Libya described Galyna Kolotnytska as one of Gaddafi's closest associates and suggested the "buxom" Ukrainian woman and the Libyan leader might be lovers.

Kolotnytska, 38, has denied the allegation.

Ukraine has evacuated more than 350 people from Libya in the wake of a widening uprising against Gaddafi's rule. Most of the Ukrainian nationals reportedly worked in the energy industry or as medical staff.
