Egyptian interim Vice President Mohammed ElBaradei announced Wednesday he was resigning in protest of the violent crackdown against supporters of ousted president Mohammed Morsi, dpa reported according to state media.
"I cannot bear the responsibility of one single drop of blood before God, my conscience and citizens, especially with my belief that it could have been avoided," ElBaradei wrote in a letter to interim President Adli Mansour.
"Regretfully, those who benefit from what happened today are the advocates of violence and terrorism," the Nobel laureate added.
