Azerbaijan plans to increase its help to Afghanistan in the fight against drugs and the insurgency, and will offer assistance in building Afghan infrastructure, Pakistani The Frontier Post newspaper quotes Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov as saying.

Azerbaijan plans to increase its help to Afghanistan in the fight against drugs and the insurgency, and will offer assistance in building Afghan infrastructure, Pakistani The Frontier Post newspaper quotes Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov as saying.

"Regarding the circumstances of our aid, we will consider the priorities first. We will cooperate in fighting the insurgency and drugs, and investments in the sectors of energy and road construction," Araz Azimov said in a press conference.

As a sign of strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries,
Afghanistan recently opened an embassy in Azerbaijan, Afghan Foreign Minister Jawed Ludin said.

"To strengthen political relations, we opened an embassy in Baku city of Azerbaijan," Ludin said.

According to the Foreign Ministry, Azerbaijan has donated $2 million in the security sector in recent years.
