The preparation for the Baku 2015 first European Games was held at a high level, Yagub Abdullayev, the head coach of the Azerbaijani sambo team, told Trend June 8.
Abdullayev expressed hope that every athlete will show good results.
He said that eight athletes - four women and four men will represent Azerbaijan in sambo competitions.
"Each of them intend to compete for the medals," he said.
He said that the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as the Sambo Federation held all the necessary preparatory work for the European Games.
He said that the support of fans plays a major role in the athletes' victory.
"Of course, the support of fans inspires the athletes," he said. "Therefore, I invite all fans to watch the competitions and to support our athletes."
Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent that will take place on June 12-28, 2015.
There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
