The economically active population in Azerbaijan increased as of December 1, 2021, Trend reports referring to the report of the State Statistics Committee.
According to the report, this indicator exceeded 5.3 million people, up by 50,800 people on annual basis.
Besides, as of December 1 this year, the number of employed people in the country amounted to over 4.9 million people, which is 100,400 people more compared to Dec. 1, 2020.
From January through November 2021, the number of hired employees exceeded 1.7 million people, thus rising by 0.98 percent compared to the same period of last year. Of these employees, 903,600 were involved in the public sector of the economy and 798,500 people - in the private sector.
About 31,600 people were employed in the oil sector of the economy, and 1.67 million people - in the non-oil sector.
Some 23.9 percent of the employees were involved in the production, including 7.6 percent in the processing industry, 7.5 percent in construction, 3.5 percent in agriculture, forestry, and fishing, 1.9 percent in mining, 1.9 percent in the water supply, waste treatment, and recycling sector, and 1.5 percent in the production, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas, and steam.
