Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 11 / Trend M. Aliyev /

Azerbaijan is a young, independent state, but despite this, it has chosen the path of dynamic development, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Vice President Wolfgang Grossruk said at a meeting with Azerbaijani Parliamentary Vice Speaker Bahar Muradova in Baku.

Muradova noted the importance of Grossruk's visit to Azerbaijan in the post-election period. She said Baku is interested in developing relations with the OSCE and its individual bodies.

"The winter session of the OSCE PA will be held in the near future. The agenda includes a report on the parliamentary elections held in November in Azerbaijan," the MP said.

Muradova noted that the opinions of some MPs run counter to OSCE observation mission's report. She noted that despite the fact that some shortcomings were revealed in the parliamentary elections, they did not affect the voting results. She said in this case sharp criticism is unfounded.

Grossruk expressed gratitude for the warm reception. He stressed that Azerbaijan has achieved significant success, particularly in economic and democratic development, since gaiing independence. In this regard, Azerbaijan is worthy of the world community's support, he said.
