Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev expressed his condolences today to Uzbek President Islam Karimov after an earthquake in the republic led to human losses.

During a telephone conversation, Nazarbayev voiced support for families and friends of the victims. He offered strong support and assistance in elimination of the aftermath of the earthquake.

In addition, Nazarbayev and Karimov discussed a wide range of issues of further development of the Kazakh-Uzbek cooperation. The sides exchanged views on the active economic cooperation, including in the sphere of industry and agriculture.

An earthquake occurred in the Ferghana Valley , stretching through the territory of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan , on July 20 at midnight.

The epicenter was at 235 kilometers south - east of Tashkent, in the territory of Kyrgyzstan. T he magnitude of the tremors was 7.0.
