President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received Chairwoman of Russia`s Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko.
The Azerbaijani President praised the relations between the two countries, saying they were rapidly developing.
President Ilham Aliyev stressed the expansion of the bilateral political, economic and humanitarian cooperation.
The Head of State emphasized the role of reciprocal visits, expressing confidence Valentina Matviyenko`s visit will contribute to developing the Azerbaijan-Russia relations in different areas, in particular the expansion of the cooperation between the two countries` legislative bodies.
Valentina Matviyenko said she had fruitful talks on development of the Azerbaijan-Russia relations during her visit.
She said the Azerbaijani President had been awarded with the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly`s Friendship order for his contribution to strengthening cooperation among CIS member states last year.
Valentina Matviyenko presented the order to President Ilham Aliyev.
The Azerbaijani leader thanked the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly for the high award, saying he considered it a sign of praise of Azerbaijan`s work to expand cooperation in CIS.
