Ambassador: Japanese Government May Invest huge Sums in   Azerbaijan Depending on Economic Growth

Azerbaijan, Baku/corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi/ The Japanese government may invest huge amounts in Azerbaijan in the future depending on economic growth, said Tadohiro Abe, Japan's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, in his interview with Trend.

The ambassador said that the investment of Japanese companies in Azerbaijan and the extension of trade relations depend on Azerbaijan's economic development. "We have seen economic growth in Azerbaijan in previous years. It may interest Japan's investors. Japan can also invest further due to such rapid growth," said Mr Abe.

The Ambassador said a by Japan's Prime Minister to Azerbaijan has not been realized during diplomatic relations between the two countries. The present prime minister is newly elected and he has much work to do, the ambassador added. During the first stage of his term, the premier minister will be engaged in internal issues. Therefore an official visit to Azerbaijan in the near future and during the year is not expected. "However, he may visit Azerbaijan in the future. Japan's 2007 financial year will start in April. During the year other high ranking officials may pay an official visit to Azerbaijan."
