Azerbaijani Ombudsman to Submit Accounts to Parliament
Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 February / corr. Trend S. Agayeva/ The ombudsman of Azerbaijan, Elmira Suleymanova, will submit an annual account to the Azerbaijani parliament.
"The annual account of Ombudsman for 2007 has already been developed and will be presented to the President at the end of February," Suleymanova said to journalists on 22 February.
The ombudsman of Azerbaijan plans to submit her account to the MPs of Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani parliament) in March. According to the Constitution of the country, the ombudsman annually presents, before parliament, an account on his/her activities regarding the protection of human rights.
Due to the confidentiality of the accounts until its publication. Suleymmanova did not divulge any of its contents.
The institute on human rights in Azerbaijan was founded 5 years ago in line with the demands of the Council of Europe.
