Conducting Scientific Olympiads in Azerbaijan regarding basic sciences is important not only for participants, but also for the country as a whole, since such activities support the reforms in education and science, which in turn increases the interest of society towards science, the Rector of Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy Hafiz Pashayev briefed the media in Baku.
According to Pashayev, head of the Scientific Committee of the Olympiad, the participants of the event were satisfied with the level of its organization.
Another positive aspect of conducting the Olympiad in Baku is that the guests, participants had an opportunity to get familiarized with Azerbaijan, with its present reality, which will promote the Republic abroad.
The 6th International Scientific Olympiad was conducted in Baku from 2 to 10 December.
The pupils and teachers from 49 countries worldwide involved in the Olympiads that will last until Dec.11. The competition is held in English. Earlier in 2004-2005 Olympiad was held in Indonesia, in 2006 in Brazil, in 2007 in Taiwan, and in 2008 in Korea.
