Azerbaijani photographer Mehman Huseynov is one of winners in the inaugural Democracy Photo Challenge, which is sponsored by the United States Department of State, the U.S embassy in Azerbaijan said.
The inaugural Democracy Photo Challenge expanded the global Democracy is... conversation with nearly 3,000 submissions from 131 countries.
A high-level jury reviewed all entries and chose 36 finalists representing six regions of the world. From August 19 - August 26, people from around the world were invited to vote on the 12 winning photos using Picasa Web.
