Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 14 / Trend M.Aliyev /
President of the Baku Football Club Inter Georgi Nikolov is afraid of unfamiliar opponents in the group.
"At first glance, Inter is in not a strong group, but we must remember that strangers are the most dangerous rivals," Nikolov told Trend on Tuesday.
"We should treat opponents with respect and caution," Nikolov said.
As a result of the CIS Cup draw, the Baku Football Club Inter, representing Azerbaijan at the "Commonwealth Cup", will play in Group A, which also included Iskra-Stal (Moldova), Istiqlal (Tajikistan), Neftchi (Kyrgyzstan).
The Commonwealth Cup will be started in mid January.
Nikolov believes they are not invincible opponents. "We hope that we will occupy the first place in the group, which will give us more acceptable chances in the quarterfinals," he said.
He said the Russian Zenit and Dynamo Kiev are strong opponents, if they perform in an optimal format.
Earlier, Spartak Moscow won the CIS Cup for six times and Dynamo Kiev five times. Azerbaijani clubs - Neftchi and Khazar-Lankaran also celebrated the victory. Moldavian Sheriff won the CIS Cup for two times, Dinamo Tbilisi and Pakhtakor Tashkent - once.
