A new sports base of the specialized junior sports school Vatan has been opened in Baku with the joint support of the Azerbaijani Football Federations Association (AFFA) and Education Ministry. The AFFA President Rovnag Abdullayev said at an event held on this occasion that as a result of cooperation with the Education Ministry several sports schools have been already opened. These schools are transferred to the ministry's balance.

Abdullayev said the new sports school is open to students of two nearby secondary schools. About 800 students can do sports here.

"The AFFA equipped the base with necessary equipment. In the future we will assist in providing the base with balls, uniforms and in addressing other issues. The Education Ministry will create conditions for children to play football in schools," Abdullayev said.

One of the main provisions of the State Program "On the development of national football" approved by the head of state, is the development of youth football, Abdullayev said.

"We have already started this work and we are creating a league for children at age of 13-17 years," Abdullayev said.
