BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 15. The South Korean government has lent a helping hand by supplying medical equipment to the Ganja City Integrated Hospital in Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
This initiative is a feather in the cap of the ongoing fruitful and long-lasting partnership between the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance of Azerbaijan and the government of South Korea.
Zaur Aliyev, chairman of the agency, said at an event aimed at shining a light on how these projects play a pivotal role in bolstering Azerbaijan's healthcare system.
"The project's major objective is to improve the accessibility and quality of medical services in our nation. This equipment will guarantee the provision of high-quality and contemporary medical services inside the compulsory health insurance system," he pointed out.
Another speaker, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Administration of the Regional Medical Divisions (TABIB) Vugar Gurbanov underlined that substantial projects are being performed in Azerbaijan as part of the relationship with South Korea to develop the professional capabilities of healthcare personnel and provide medical equipment.
"This cooperation contributes significantly to the sustainable development of the healthcare system and the protection of the health of Azerbaijani citizens," he said.
The South Korean Ambassador Lee In-Yong highlighted that modern medical equipment is essential for treating cardiovascular diseases.
According to him, the embassy, in collaboration with the agency, is implementing this project to support the provision of effective medical services related to cardiovascular diseases.
Director of the Ganja City Integrated Hospital Ilkin Ismayilov expressed gratitude for the support received.
The supplied equipment includes a defibrillator, anesthesia machine, ventilator, patient monitor, surgical lamp, operating table, electrosurgical unit, surgical aspirator, instrument set, and infusion system.
The intensive care unit also had intensive care beds, patient monitors, a resuscitation ventilator, a defibrillator, suction apparatus, and a pediatric ultrasound device.
Treating patients at high risk of fatal outcomes requires the use of crucial equipment in the intensive care and resuscitation departments. The South Korean government provides medical equipment totaling $500,000.
To note, this initiative is not the first assistance from the South Korean government to Azerbaijan. In previous years, the government provided medical equipment to protect maternal and child health in state medical institutions under TABIB, as well as kiosks for medical examinations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
