The construction of power transmission lines and fiber-optic communication lines on the route Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) continues, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said in an interview with TASS, Trend reports.
Focusing on Afghan-Turkmen cooperation, Berdimuhamedov noted the ongoing large-scale projects in the energy, transport, and communication spheres.
According to Berdimuhamedov, the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline is of great importance in this context.
"According to preliminary estimates, this project, in addition to direct gas supplies to Afghanistan, will ensure that the budget of this country will receive more than one billion dollars for gas transit alone. In addition, several thousand new jobs will be created in those Afghan provinces, according to which the pipeline will pass," Berdymukhamedov said.
The President of Turkmenistan also noted that the construction of power transmission lines and fiber-optic communication along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route, the formation of the Lapis Lazuli transport corridor is underway.
"I am convinced that the successful implementation of such projects will give a powerful impetus to the economic development of fraternal Afghanistan and will stimulate effective activity on the part of external investors," he said.
