BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 9. The number of employees in Azerbaijan increased by 29,400 people or 1.7 percent as of August 1, 2022, compared to the same period last year, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan.
According to the committee, the total number of employees in Azerbaijan amounted to 1.7 million people as of August 1, 2022, including 897,500 in the public sector of the economy and 821,600 in the private sector.
Some 19.1 percent of the total number of employed persons were in education, 18.7 percent in trade and vehicle repair, 12.7 percent in industry, 8.2 percent in healthcare and social services, and 7.6 percent in construction.
According to the committee, 6.5 percent of the total number of employed persons fell on public administration, defense and social security, 4.3 percent - on transport and warehousing, 3.5 percent - on agriculture, forestry and fisheries, 3.4 percent - on scientific and technical activities, 1.9 percent - for financial and insurance activities, 14.1 percent - for other sectors of the economy.
The average monthly nominal wage of employees in Azerbaijan increased by 14.1 percent year on year and amounted to 831 manat ($488) from January through July 2022. According to this indicator, growth was recorded in the mining industry, in areas of financial, insurance, scientific and technical activities, in the information and communication sector, and also in the sphere of transport and warehousing.
