Türkiye names volume of agricultural products, cattle transshipped to its ports for 8M2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 7. Turkish ports handled over 9.4 million tons of agricultural products and cattle from January through August 2022, Türkiye’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period Turkish-flagged ships delivered 260,476 tons of agricultural products.

Transportation volume of agricultural products and cattle by ships under the flags of other countries to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 9.1 million tons, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, 66,040 tons of agricultural products and cattle were transited through the Turkish ports.

In the first eight months of 2022, Turkish ports totally handled 264.6 million tons of cargo.

Cargo transportation by ships under the flag of Türkiye through local ports in the specified period amounted to 18.9 million tons, and by ships under the flags of other countries – 245.69 million tons.

Meanwhile, Turkish ports handled 54 million tons of transit cargo.

In 2021, the ports of Türkiye received 386.39 million tons of cargo.

During the reporting year, freight transportation by Turkish-flagged ships via domestic ports amounted to 29.9 million tons, whereas the cargo traffic by ships flying other countries' flags reached 356.39 million tons.

Furthermore, Turkish ports transshipped 78 million tons of transit cargo last year.
