BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 2. Bulgaria’s gas prices decreased by 47 percent in November 2022 as the country starts importing gas from Azerbaijan via the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB), Trend reports citing the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC).

According to the EWRC, previously the wholesale price of natural gas in Bulgaria for October was set at 233.36 Bulgarian lev (117.98 euros) per megawatt-hour.

The Commission approved the natural gas price for November at 123.01 Bulgarian lev (62.19 euros) per megawatt hour. "Bulgargas" natural gas distribution company will sell gas to final suppliers and persons who have been granted a license for the production and transfer of thermal energy at this price.

IGB connects Bulgaria with the Southern Gas Corridor and will enable secure supplies from a variety of sources to several countries in Southeast and Central Europe, including Moldova and Ukraine.

The pipeline is set to transport 1 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas per year to Bulgaria. Its capacity is 3 billion cubic meters with the possibility of expanding to 5 billion cubic meters per year.
