Georgia, Turkey to cooperate in production of carriages

A representative delegation of the Turkish Transport Ministry led by the minister’s chief advisor Dr Metim Erebakan will arrive in Tbilisi on Friday. The delegation includes directors of the largest plants on production of cargo and passenger carriages and locomotives.

A representative delegation of the Turkish Transport Ministry led by the minister's chief advisor Dr Metim Erebakan will arrive in Tbilisi on Friday. The delegation includes directors of the largest plants on production of cargo and passenger carriages and locomotives.

The delegation will hold talks with the management of the Georgian railways and the Georgian Economy ministry, director of Lozton corp. company Georgy Tabatadze told reporters. The delegation will hold meetings and visit Tbilisi electric locomotive construction plant and Rustavi railway carriage repair works.

"Issues of providing and modernizing rolling stock of rail transport in connection with construction of new Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway will also be discussed at the negotiations," Mr Tabatadze said.

The sides will also consider prospects of organizing in Georgia production of new cargo carriages and component part based on foundry with the Turkish cooperation.

With the participation of Georgian economy minister Vera Kobalia issues of transport policy and investment as well as participation in the EU project 'Eastern partnership', aimed at uniting transport systems of the EU and regions of European Neighborhood will be discussed.
