Azerbaijan, Baku, 11 June / Trend E. Aliyev /

The Azerbaijani delegation led by the Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev will visit Aktau on June 18-19 to participate in the Azerbaijani-Kazakh business forum, according to the statement released on the website of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) on Tuesday.

This will be the third meeting in 2013 between the Azerbaijani and Kazakh entrepreneurs. Two of them were held in Baku. In April, entrepreneurs of the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan presented their investment opportunities in Baku in order to establish cooperation with Azerbaijani companies in the field of urban planning, landscaping, water and wastewater management, recycling and solid waste management, food security, alternative energy and other sectors.

A visit of the businessmen from the Atyrau region of Kazakhstan, representing areas of food production, agriculture, health care, shipping, energy, light industry and other sectors, took place in May.

Foreign trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, according to the 2012 results, amounted to $393.425 million. The share of export operations amounts to $52.87 million, decreasing by 9.28 percent, while imports grew by 56.72 percent to $340.555 million. One of the challenges for enhancing trade and economic relations between the two countries is the establishment of logistics centers.

Today, there is a fairly well-developed legal framework between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in the field of economic relations, more than 20 agreements signed on investment protection, avoidance of double taxation and a host of other contracts that have a positive impact on the development of trade relations.

There are about 40 companies with the Kazakh capital currently operating in Azerbaijan.
