As much as 5.39 billion manats were invested from all financial sources in the development of Azerbaijan’s economic and social spheres in January-May 2016, or 16.04 percent less than in the same period in 2015, said a report issued by the country’s State Statistics Committee.
Official exchange rate on June 21 is 1.524 AZN/USD.
According to the report, some 69.1 percent of investments in the fixed assets were spent for construction.
Some 4.59 billion manats were invested in the construction of production facilities, 601.5 million manats – non-production facilities and 196.2 million manats – in construction of housing.
Domestic investments accounted for 35.9 percent of the total volume of investments.
Moreover, 4.25 billion manats (78.9 percent of the total volume of investments) invested in the fixed capital accounted for funds of enterprises and organizations, 464.3 million manats (8.6 percent) – bank loans, 479.3 million manats (8.9 percent) – budget funds, 45.7 million manats (0.8 percent) – resources of off-budget funds, 147.5 million manats (2.7 percent) – personal funds of the population, 3 million manats (0.1 percent) – other funds.
As much as 31.7 percent (1.71 billion manats) of the investments made in the fixed capital was spent on the development of the non-oil sector, while 3.68 billion manats (68.3 percent) were invested in the country’s oil sector.
Some 72.6 percent of the investments accounted for the industrial spheres, 15 percent – construction, 6.5 percent – transportation and warehousing, 1.5 percent - public administration, security and compulsory social security, 1.2 percent - agriculture, forestry and fishery, 0.6 percent - information and communications, 0.7 percent - administrative and support services, 0.5 percent – healthcare, education, 0.3 percent - activities in recreation, entertainment and the arts, commerce and education, 0.1 percent - tourist accommodation and catering, 0.1 percent - rendering services in professional, scientific and technical activities and services in other areas.
