Uzbekistan sees rise in agriculture production

Preliminary data shows that the total volume of products (services) in the sector of agriculture, forestry and fisheries in 2017 amounted to 69,504 trillion soums or 102.0 percent to the corresponding period of 2016, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said in a message on Jan.13.

The total volume of products (services) in crop production and livestock, hunting and services in these areas reached 68,907 trillion soums (101.9 percent), in forestry - 117.9 billion soums (101.6 percent) percent), in fisheries - 479.6 billion soums (126.8 percent).

The highest growth rates were observed in Surkhandarya (106.6 percent), Navoi (104.1 percent), the Republic of Karakalpakstan (103.8 percent) and Ferghana (103.3 percent). Khorezm (100.1 percent), Tashkent and Kashkadarya (100.8 percent) regions showed the low rates of growth.

Growth in the volume of agricultural production in January-December 2017 amounted to 101.9 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2016, including crop production - 100.7 percent and livestock - 104.2 percent.

The analysis of farms shows that 63.6 percent of total agricultural output falls on dehkan (personal subsidiary) farms, 34.7 percent on farms, and 1.7 percent on organizations that carry out agricultural activities.

The agriculture sector's share in the GDP structure increased from 18.1 percent in 2016 to 19.2 percent in 2017.

The share of agriculture in the GDP of Uzbekistan was 43.149 trillion soums (32.276 trillion soums in 2016). The industry's impact on growth is 0.4 percent.
