Representatives of the Azerbaijani business community expressed interest in implementing water supply projects in the region, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakhstan’s Kazakh Invest National Company.

This was announced during the bilateral meeting between Consul General of the Consulate of Azerbaijan in Kazakhstan’s Aktau city Elmar Mammadov and Regional Director at Kazakh Invest Aydin Tumyshev.

The meeting was a continuation of work to improve the investment climate and development of bilateral economic relations between Kazakhstan’s Mangystau region and Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, Tumyshev informed the Consul General on the priority development areas in the region, which include logistics, tourism, agriculture and energy.

“Currently, Mangystau region is actively developing greenhouse farming, livestock breeding, fish farming and alternative energy sources. In addition, a convenient geographical location, a rich historical heritage and a long beach season make it possible to raise funds in the tourism industry,” Tumyshev said.

In turn, the Azerbaijani side expressed interest in implementing water supply projects in the region. The parties agreed to continue substantive work on the outlined initiatives.

Total value of trade turnover between Mangystau region and Azerbaijan amounted to $32 million during seven months of 2019, including export from the region worth $28.1 million, and import worth $3.9 million. To date, about 250 enterprises with Azerbaijani capital are registered in the region.
