Azerbaijan’s trade turnover with its five main trade partners amounted to over $3 billion in January-February 2020 or 60.6 percent of its total trade turnover, Trend reports referring to the country’s State Customs Committee.
Italy retained the status of Azerbaijan’s biggest trading partner with a turnover of $1.5 billion and a share of 31.3 percent. Italy is followed by Turkey - $547.4 million (10.8 percent), Russia - $347.1 million (6.9 percent), China - $329 million (6.5 percent) and the US – $252.6 million (5 percent).

During the reported period, Azerbaijan bought most of the products worth $275 million (share of the total import - 12.7 percent) from Switzerland. It is followed by Turkey - $547.4 billion (10.9 percent), Russia - $347.1 million (6.4 percent), China - $329 million (6.5 percent) and the US - $252.6 million (4.1 percent).
The share of these countries in Azerbaijan’s total imports was 60.4 percent.
Italy was again the main importer of Azerbaijani products in January-February 2020. Some $1.49 billion (45.9 percent) of Azerbaijan’s total export accounted for Italy. It is followed by Turkey – $310.7 million (9.5 percent), Israel - $217 million (6.7 percent), Greece – about $149.5 million (4.6 percent) and Tunisia - $119 million (3.7 percent).
The share of these countries in Azerbaijan’s total export was about 70.4 percent.
In general, Azerbaijan’s foreign trade operations increased by 5.2 percent and amounted to $5 billion in January-February 2020, compared to the same period of 2019.
During the reported period the positive balance amounted to over $1.4 billion, which is 1.5 times more compared to the same period of 2019 ($986.3 million).
