Azerbaijan taking necessary measures to attract investment

Azerbaijan created logistics centers and industrial zones, providing opportunities for investment activities on preferential terms in order to attract investments, Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said.

Jabbarov made the remark at an extraordinary meeting of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) held with the organizational support of the Azerbaijani National Confederation of Entrepreneurs, Trend reports citing the ministry.

According to him, Azerbaijan, being a member of TCCI, actively participates in such regional projects as East-West, North-South and North-West transport corridors.

"Azerbaijan is one of the important and reliable transport and logistics centers of Eurasia. The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and the Baku International Sea Trade Port with a cargo turnover of 25 million tons operate in the country," he said.

As he noted, according to the Global Competitiveness Index published by the World Economic Forum for 2019, Azerbaijan ranks 11th among 141 countries for the efficiency of railway services, 12th for air transport services, 25th for the quality of road infrastructure.

"In Azerbaijan, a special legal regime is applied along with local investments, the state provides guarantees for investment activities," the minister said.

The minister noted that a unified plan of measures has been prepared for the restoration of the territories liberated from the occupation, Azerbaijan is ready to cooperate with the member states of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry in this area.

Along with the minister, President of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Head of the Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Turkey (TOBB) Mustafa Rifat, Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreev, President of the National Confederation Mammad Musayev and other officials took part in the event.
