Azerbaijan slows down imports from CIS states

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 16

The value of imports by Azerbaijan from the CIS countries decreased by 2.3 percent from January through July 2021, compared to the same period of 2020, making $1.5 billion, Trend reports citing the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan.

According to the SCC, the share of the CIS in Azerbaijan's total imports decreased over the year from 25.93 to 23.74 percent.

As reported, Azerbaijan's export from the CIS countries in the reporting period amounted to $891.4 million, which is 10.1 percent more compared to the same period of 202. CIS’ share in the total export of Azerbaijan amounted to 7.82 percent (in January through July 2020 - 8.87 percent).

At the same time, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the CIS countries reached $2.38 billion, which is a growth of 2 percent year on year.

Thus, the balance of foreign trade turnover of Azerbaijan with the CIS countries ($603.6 million) remained negative in the reporting period.
