Iran discloses details of annual import through Khuzestan Province’s customs

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. Iran imported more than 18 million tons of goods worth approximately $10.7 billion through the customs of Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran), over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Customs Inspector of Khuzestan Province Behrouz Gharabeigi told ISNA, Trend reports.

Gharabeigi emphasized that the imports via the province’s customs for the last Iranian year increased by 5 percent in value, while increasing by 12 percent in volume compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

The customs official said that various equipment, raw materials, etc. were the main imported products.

He also pointed out that the mentioned goods were imported mainly from China, the UAE, South Korea, Taiwan, and India.

There are 11 customs offices in Iran’s Khuzestan Province. At the same time, Iran's Khuzestan Province has 7 ports of strategic importance from an economic point of view. The mentioned ports play key role in export, import and transit of the country.

In total, Iran imported a total of 33.6 million tons of goods worth $53.7 billion for the first 11 months of the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through February 19, 2023), which is an increase of 15.2 percent in value, while a decrease of 8.61 percent in volume compared to the same period in the preceding Iranian year.
