BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. Iran’s non-oil exports to Iraq through the customs of Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran), decreased by 14 percent in value and 10 percent in volume, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Customs Inspector of Khuzestan Province Behrouz Gharabeigi told ISNA, Trend reports.
“In total, 4.82 million tons of non-oil products worth $796 million were exported to Iraq through the Khuzestan Province’s customs for the last Iranian year,” he said.
Gharabeigi added that the main products exported to Iraq through the province’s customs were construction materials, food products, vegetables, fish, dairy products, household appliances, etc.
According to the official, the goods were exported to Iraq mainly through Shalamcheh and Chazabeh customs of Khuzestan Province.
There are 11 customs offices in Iran’s Khuzestan Province. At the same time, Iran's Khuzestan Province has 7 ports of strategic importance from an economic point of view. The mentioned ports play key roles in the export, import and transit of the country.
Overall, approximately 17.6 million tons of non-oil products worth $6.58 billion were exported through the customs of Khuzestan Province over the last Iranian year.
Meanwhile, Iran exported over 111 million tons of non-oil products worth $48.8 billion within the first 11 months of the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through February 19, 2023). This is an increase of 12.2 percent in value, while a decrease of 1 percent in volume compared to the same period in the preceding Iranian year.
