BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. Iran’s non-oil exports to Iraq through the customs of Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran), decreased by 38 percent in value and 16 percent in volume, during the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the same month in the last Iranian year, Customs Inspector of Khuzestan Province Behrouz Gharabeigi told ISNA, Trend reports.
Gharabeigi noted that more than 384,000 tons of non-oil products worth $48.4 million were exported to Iraq through the Khuzestan Province’s customs for the 1st month.
The customs official added that the main products exported to Iraq through the province’s customs were construction materials, agricultural and food products, household appliances, and etc.
According to him, the goods were exported to Iraq mainly through Shalamcheh and Chazabeh customs of Khuzestan Province.
There are 11 customs offices in Iran’s Khuzestan Province. At the same time, Iran's Khuzestan Province has 7 ports of strategic importance from an economic point of view. The mentioned ports play key roles in the export, import and transit of the country.
Meanwhile, approximately 17.6 million tons of non-oil products worth $6.58 billion were exported through the customs of Khuzestan Province over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).
Overall, Iran exported about 10.5 million tons of non-oil products worth approximately $3.65 billion for the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023).
This is a decrease of 12.9 percent in value, while an increase of 17.7 percent in volume compared to the same month in the last year.
