Iran's Minister of Energy spoke about the state of the electricity grid in the country in the current Iranian year (ending on March.21) and said that eight new power plants entered the circuit this year, adding 1,245 megawatts to the country's electricity grid capacity.
“For the next Iranian year (starting on March 21), we will try to build 22 new power plants to add 4,400 megawatts to the country's electricity network capacity,” the Energy Minister Reza Ardakaniyan said, Trend reports citing ILNA.
He went on to say that during the last 12 month, the government and the private sector invested a total of $3.8 million s in the utilities industry and in the improvement of the sewage network.
Ardakaniyan expressed hope that with proper planning, water and electricity consumption could be properly managed and by increasing production and implementation of development plans, the peak consumption could easily be managed in the next summer.
