A special installation for the collection of sand and mechanical mixture under high pressure was introduced for routine maintenance in order to prevent frequent shutdowns of wells at oil-producing fields managed by Uzbekneftegaz JSC, Trend reports citing Uzbekneftegaz JSC.
According to the information, the oil fields under the management of Uzbekneftegaz JSC are used at the final stage of exploitation. Depending on the condition of these wells and the problems arising in them, repairs are being carried out. It is noted that the repair work is carried out mechanically, that is, using sucker rod-type deep-well pumps.
It is reported that since most of the wells operate in an open wellbore state, mechanical impurities and sand plugs enter the well along with the fluid directly from the formation. As a result, the sands are clogged into the pump suction valves, and the wells are stopped for maintenance due to the appearance of leaks in them.
“Suspension of wells for routine maintenance leads to a decrease in daily oil production,” Uzbekneftegaz noted.
Thus, to prevent frequent shutdowns of wells at oil-producing fields, a special installation for the collection of sand and mechanical mixture under high pressure was introduced for routine maintenance. These devices are used for early failure of pumps in operating wells and extension of the interval for stopping them for repair.
Uzbekneftegaz reports that as a result a decrease in oil production by 180-200 tons per year will be prevented, and routine repairs of wells will be reduced by 30 percent. In addition, funds will be saved on performing multiple processes of cleaning the bottom of the wells and lifting the pumping compressor pipes from the wells.
