BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 11. Iran produced a total of 1.07 billion cubic meters of gas from the Tang-e Bijar gas field in Ilam Province, located in the west of the country, in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), Executive Director of Iran's West Oil and Gas Production Company (WOGPC) Mahmoud Nasseri said, Trend reports.
The director also said that, on average, 5.7 million cubic meters of gas were produced daily from this field during the past six months.
Nasseri added that the development of the Tang-e Bijar gas field is one of the main plans of the company to increase gas production.
The Tang-e-Bijar gas field, located 70 km southwest of Ilam city in Iran, has a daily production capacity of 7 million cubic meters of gas and 7,000 barrels of gas condensate. The field is currently undergoing its second phase of development, which will increase its output to 11 million cubic meters of gas per day. The Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Holding (PGPIC) has offered to invest $102 million in this project.
The West Oil and Gas Production Company is a subsidiary of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC) that operates in the provinces of Kermanshah, Ilam and Lorestan. The company was established in 1999 and can produce 165,000 barrels of crude oil and 7 million cubic meters of gas per day from 12 oil fields and 1 gas field. However, the company has not developed seven oil fields and six gas fields that it owns.
