BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 15. Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov took part in the VI International Forum "Russian Energy Week" held in Moscow and held a number of meetings, Trend reports.
Thus, during the meeting with Russian Energy Minister Nikolay Shulginov Parviz Shahbazov discussed issues of integration of energy systems of Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran.
In addition, Parviz Shahbazov discussed with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak the prospects of cooperation between the countries on joint energy projects.
"Energy transition is a rather long process when energy security, economic availability and environmental sustainability are taken into account. In order to achieve a balanced energy system, the need to continue investments in oil and gas and in parallel expand the use of renewable energy sources should not be questioned. It is the countries that have ensured energy security for themselves and their partners that can realize a correct and rational energy transition policy," the minister said.
In addition, Azerbaijan's energy cooperation with Tajikistan and Pakistan was discussed this week. Thus, at a meeting with Tajikistan's Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma the proposals of Azerbaijani companies to participate in oil, gas and renewable energy projects were assessed.
Also, Azerbaijani Deputy Energy Minister Kamal Abbasov took part in the 25th ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) held in Malabo (Equatorial Guinea) and discussed the role of natural gas at the GECF meeting.
It was also reported that the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan will hold a webinar on "Hydrogen Energy: Opportunities and Challenges".
According to the information, at the webinar Dr. Tan Bo - associate professor of Chengdu University of Technology (China), will provide detailed information on hydrogen production technologies, their differences, advantages of "green" hydrogen and its role in the future, energy landscape, as well as answer questions related to this topic.
Turan Drilling & Engineering, owned by KCA Deutag and SOCAR AQŞ, was renewed this week on a $300 million contract for offshore drilling and maintenance services in Azerbaijan. The contract was extended for two years.
This week it became known that SOCAR AQŞ drilled a sidetrack on Platform 8 of Guneshli field. The sidetrack was successfully drilled to a depth of 2,985 meters.
In addition, new exploration wells will be drilled at the Naftalan field in Azerbaijan. The program assumes drilling of new exploration wells by progressive methods. Already this year it is planned to drill a well 3,500 meters deep.
