By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgia starts implementation of Solid Waste Management System, said Mayor of Tbilisi City Hall Kakha Kaladze at the government meeting, Trend reports via Georgian media outlets.

According to Kaladze, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has already allocated a sovereign loan of 500,000 euro to develop a relevant strategy.

“It is a very important document, based on European experience, to provide a long-term view of what coherent steps should be taken to meet the obligations under national law and the Association Agreement with the European Union", Kaladze noted.

According to the mayor, waste separation bins are already placed in different districts of the city, though this is insufficient.

“We want to present the best examples of developed countries. In addition, we hold active communication with the business, and we will develop a project to convert the generated gas into electricity to be used then for the city”, said Kaladze.
