By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:
Two new cableways will be built in Georgian Tbilisi, said Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze,Trend reports citing Georgian media.
"At the beginning of next year, it is planned to start construction of the Vazisubani-Samgori cableway. French Development Agency allocated 30 million euros for this project. By the end of 2021, the city hall plans to begin construction of a cableway that will connect Sarajishvili Avenue with Zgvisubani near the Tbilisi Sea," Kaladze said.
The mayor of Tbilisi believes that the implementation of these projects is very important for the residents of densely populated residential areas.
He explained that the cable cars will be integrated into the general public transport system and thanks to them, passengers will be able to quickly get to the metro stations.
“This will facilitate the rapid movement of people,” he added.
Today, there are only two functioning cable cars in Tbilisi - the Rike-Narikala cableway serving tourists, and the cableway connecting Chavchavadze Avenue with Turtle Lake.
