Japan ready to provide financial assistance to Uzbekistan to support budget

Japan expressed its readiness to provide financial assistance to Uzbekistan in order to support the budget and new projects, given the COVID-19 pandemic and its expected consequences, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan.

Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan Yoshinori Fujiyama discussed issues of strengthening and expanding the scale of cooperation projects.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the ongoing cooperation, and the proposals of the Japanese side for the further implementation of promising projects in the field of healthcare and budgetary support, in addition to preparatory programs in the field of energy, a market economy, banking, and finance, were touched upon.

The Japanese side expressed interest in reforms to improve projects in the field of agriculture and offered to work on projects that contribute to the further development of cooperation in this direction.

In turn, the Uzbek side expressed the hope that the Japanese partners will not be limited to existing projects and the expansion of cooperation and proposals will touch on new areas such as the development of human capital, IT, artificial intelligence.
