Uzbekistan’s public debt as of Apr. 1, 2021 revealed

The public debt of Uzbekistan as of April 1, 2021 amounted to $23.4 billion, or 40.5 percent of GDP (Gross domestic product), Trend reports with reference to the press service of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis (Parliament) of Uzbekistan.

Also, during the consideration by the deputies of the report on the execution of the state budget for the first quarter of this year, it was revealed that the public domestic debt of Uzbekistan as of April 1 amounted to $2.2 billion, or 3.7 percent of GDP, while the country's external debt accounted for $21.2 billion, or 36.8 percent of GDP.

The deputies stressed that along with the positive results, the growth in the number of errors and gaps in the targeted use of budget funds causes disagreement among the population.

In particular, out of 248 control measures carried out in the system of the Ministry of Public Education, 198 violations were revealed in the amount of 43.3 billion soums ($4 million), which is 4.6 times more than in the same period last year.

It is reported that violations of 23.3 billion soums ($2.2 million) were revealed for 212 out of 275 control measures carried out in the system of the Ministry of Health, which is 2.9 times more than in the corresponding period last year.

At the same time, violations in the amount of 41.2 billion soums ($3.9 million) were revealed for 242 out of 289 control events organized in the system of the Ministry of Pre-school Education, which is 7.6 times more than in the same period last year.
