Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies will soon submit the final rules introducing number portability service for approval to the relevant agencies, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Iltimas Mammadov said today.
He said, a final decision on implementing this service will be made after creating the legal framework.
"Today the main issue is availability of a legal framework and specific rules regulating the introduction of number portability service. This issue has been discussed in detail with operators. I believe that the introduction of this service in the operators' networks will be implemented by late 2010," Mammadov said.
According to him, the introduction of the service will affect the operators' interests, unlike which, as a result, end users will benefit.
